ALLAN WATSON made it a hat-trick with his third consecutive Club Championship win last Saturday. Allan's opponent was Lee Wilson who only joined the club in January and was awarded a 3 handicap. Allan was in blistering form in the morning round, notching up 7 birdies. Lee's golf whilst playing close go his handicap was 8 down at lunch. Allan maintained the high calibre of golf in the afternoon, and ended up with a comfortable victory.

All players were high in praise for the quality and presentation of the course and greens with thanks to course manager James Lindsay and his team, and also all the Match & Handicap teams and referees' and caddies on Championship Finals Day.
The previous Saturday, Stevie McIvor won the Club Championship Strokeplay with a 2 shot margin over David Oates and was seeded 1 in the Matchplay Stages. Stevie scored a very impressive 4 under par total with rounds of 69 & 71 (140) with David returning 72 & 70 for 142. 3rd Qualifier and seed was Chris Lawton 74, 71(145) and 4th Alan Watson 72, 74 (146) Qualifying score for the 16 players was 155. Special mention to Junior Member Gary McFarlane playing in his first event of the white medal tees put in a tremendous performance with rounds of 79 & 74 and also took leading handicap score.

The trophy was won by Fiona and Derek Anderson who played steady golf, and scored a fine net score of 72, narrowly beating Club Captain Campbell Leggat and his partner Tricia Chillas into second place. Who were clubhouse leaders for the whole afternoon, with a gross 81, net 74. Fiona drove the ball particularly well with her new driver, and holed a number of important putts. Whilst Derek’s game improved after a poor start, hitting his fairway woods well. Despite playing in the worst of the weather, the conditions did not affect their form! They were presented with a beautiful silver trophy and vouchers from the Pro Shop.
The longest drive winners were Moneena Peebles ( 11th hole) and Graham Oxburgh (18th hole) , who each took home a bottle of wine.

The weather was kind, the course hard but fair, the bar and restuarant staff attentive and our Pro Palmer helped out with starter duties.
