The Grouse Fourball was abandoned on Saturday due to the heavy persistent rain and flodded greens. It is re-scheduled for Saturday 27th October (closing day) and players will need to re-book tee-times from Thursday 18th October online or via the new V1app.

The recent Coffee morning held in the clubhouse in aid of MacMillan Cancer raised the magnificent sum of £1,045. Well done to all members and visitors who attended and all the staff involved in making it a huge success.

Tickets are on sale -via the secretary's office- for the Annual DInner and Presentation of Prizes on Friday 16th November. After dinner speaker is Bert Thomson. All prizewinners- previously  notified by email- are encouraged to attend to collect your prizes and receive your plaudits.

Finally this Saturday the 5 Club Challenge- non qualifying event- is being held. Great test of club selection for the bag and also getting the creative juices flowing with a variety of shotmaking.

The Captain's Prize Final -singles matchplay- was contested on Sunday with last years finalist 64 year old Peter McGuigan playing 26 year old James S Todd who won last years club foursomes with partner Liam Haldane. 10 handicapper James was conceding 2 shots to Peter.

James got off to a flier winning the first 3 holes, Peter responded with James having a few errant drives to win holes 4,5, and 6 to level the match. James won the 7th to go one up before Peter replied winning the 8th and the 9th -receiving a shot- to finish the front nine 1up. The first halved hole came at the 10th then Peter won the 11th to go 2up.  James won the 12th and 13th with a birdie, before Peter made a tremendous up and down from the bunker at 14th for a par to halve the hole. Peter won 15th using his second stroke to go back to 1up. 16th was halved, then James won 17th with a bogey to square the match. The 18th was halved  in par, pushing the match into sudden death. Holes 19th and 20th were halved in pars before Peter won the 21st with a bogey. A great match and congratulations to both players who both secure places at the Annual Prizegiving Dinner on Friday 16th November.
