STIRLING GOLF CLUB LADIES’ OPEN TRI-AM COMPETITION

Stirling Ladies held their annual Tri Am Open Competition on Saturday 21 st.  The day started with heavy rain and flooded greens causing a 40 minute delay to the start.  Tricia with the help of some members managed to clear enough water to get the competition underway.  The course itself drained well after the rain stopped and we managed the rest of the day with only a brief shower.

Lots of volunteers helped throughout the day and much thanks goes to them.  Stirling ladies did well in the results – the advantage of local knowledge

A NEW NAME TAKES THE LADIES CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP HONOURS IN 2015

A new name will be on the Honours Board this year after Nicola Roberson defeated 11 times winner Elaine Allison by 4/3.  Elaine took the early lead to be 2 up after 4 but Nicola drew level by the 6th and was 1 up after 9.  Level par through the next 4 holes saw Nicola's lead increase to 4 as Elaine missed a number of shortish putts.  Elaine won the 14th with a par 3 but lost the 15th to Nicola's par 4.

The Handicap Championship final was a keenly fought match between Frances McMillan and Eleanor Cull, a match which could have gone either way.  There was very little between the players over 8 holes.  Eleanor found bunkers at 9 and 10 and Frances edged ahead to go 3 up after 11.  However, Eleanor came back at her with her consistently good long game.  All square at 15th, Eleanor won 16th to be followed by Frances winning 17th.  Eleanor played 3 beautiful long shots down 18th and won the championship on the 18th green.

Both matches were played in the most friendly and sporting spirit and were enjoyed immensely by all those watching.
