Terms of the Junior Open

Open to Junior members of course owning golf clubs aged 17 years, or under, on the date of the competition. Entrants must hold a WHS Handicap Index up to a maximum of 54.0.

The Scratch Trophy and Scratch prizes shall be awarded to the lowest 18-hole Gross Scores returned on the day. The Handicap Trophy and all other handicap prizes will be decided by Stableford points over 18 holes. However, handicap winners from entrants aged 11years or under shall be decided by Stableford over 14 holes. (This does not prevent these younger entrants from playing all 18 holes and winning a Handicap Prize in the 18-hole category.)

Play will be from the Tees selected on the day.

Entry fees will be refunded up to two weeks before the competition. No refunds will be made thereafter. Start-Times are offered on a first come first served basis and if full, please contact the Secretary.

Entries can be made via the club website click on Visitors above photo, then click on 2023 SGC Opens and select Junior Open. Anyone encountering problems may e-mail our Junior Convenor Fiona Kelly at: or phone: 07970 384277.

Full payment by credit or debit card must be made at the time of booking and include the following details for each player: Name; Date of Birth; Home Club; CDH Number; and Handicap Index, along with the Email Address and contact phone number of the person whose Credit / Debit Card is used to pay the booking. These details will be used by SGC to communicate changes to Start-Times, send Refunds and inform players of Results.

The players returning the best scratch and net scores will receive first prize and have their name engraved on the Trophy which shall remain within Stirling Golf Club. In the event of a tie for any prize, Scratch or Handicap, all winners shall be determined by the better inward half, last six holes, last three holes, then last hole. If a tie still exists, then the better first nine holes, six holes, three holes, then first hole, shall decide. If a tie still prevails the prize money for these places shall be shared equally. If necessary, a one-hole play-off at the 14th Hole will be used to determine the winner of either Trophies.

There will be no prize giving ceremony. Vouchers will be sent to each winners Home Golf Club and be posted out no later than one week after the competition date. The tournament committee reserves the right to increase/decrease prize values at their discretion, and their decisions in all disputes shall be final.

Players should register their attendance in the Clubhouse no later than 20 minutes prior to their start-time.

It is each players responsibility to arrive on the 1st Tee ready to play, no earlier or later than 5 minutes prior to their start-time. The starter has the authority to penalise any player two strokes, added to their first hole score, if in his opinion they are not ready to play when he calls their name on the 1st Tee.
